Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with FACTS Education Solutions (Educational Leadership and Professional Development) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Title II, Part A entitlement grant will provide funds for the professional development plans for the K-12 academic teachers and school leaders of the Diocese of St. Petersburg Schools within Hillsborough County Schools. Participants will explore how one of the most fundamental instructional strategies—questioning—can provide the proper scaffolding to deepen student thinking, understanding, and application of knowledge. Participants will learn: · Instructional methods and techniques for using questioning to extend and evaluate student learning experiences · Eight different types of questions that challenge students to demonstrate higher-order thinking, as categorized by Bloom's Revised Taxonomy, and communicate depth of knowledge, as designated by Webb's Depth of Knowledge Model · How to rephrase the performance objectives of college and career readiness standards into questions that will engage and challenge students to think deeply, and express and share the depth and extent of their learning |

Funds in the amount of $54,000 will be available in the Title II grant. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3389. As of June 5, 2017, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $2,264,000.00. | |
EVALUATION | |
Immediately following the training, teachers and leaders will complete a course evaluation that will allow the Diocese to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. At the end of the 2017/2018 school year, the Diocese will be required to complete a Title II needs assessment reporting on their data and next steps in Professional Development. | |
