The City of Temple Terrace has requested permission from the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida, a body corporate, to design and construct a ballfield for the Buddy Baseball Program on a portion of Lewis Elementary School.  The proposed area is currently used as soccer fields by the school and the City under the 2016 General Cooperative Agreement between the parties.  The attached Interlocal Agreement stipulates that the City would be responsible for the design, construction and cost of the ballfield; the school would have use during regular school hours; the City during non-school hours; construction plans would be submitted to the School Board's Florida Building Code Manager for review and permitting and subject to district construction inspection.  If at any time the 2016 General Cooperative Agreement is no longer in effect, the Interlocal Agreement shall automatically terminate.  In the event of termination, the City shall be responsible to pay for all work, including all contractual obligations with the Contractor, covered by the Interlocal that is completed at the time of termination.

The Interlocal Agreement has been reviewed by school district legal counsel as to form and sufficiency.

 

Approval of the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Temple Terrace and the School Board of Hillsborough County for the design and construction of a ballfield for the Buddy Baseball Program at Lewis Elementary School will have no financial impact to the School Board.  The City of Temple Terrace has a grant for the necessary funds with the State of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to cover all design and construction expenses of the ballfield.
