SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the First Amendment to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the University of South Florida (USF), College of Education, for Services Associated with the Implementation of the Investing in Innovation (i3) Grant Project (Award #U411C140098), the Urban Teacher Residency Preparation Program (UTRPP) (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On January 17, 2017, the School Board approved the MOA with USF for services associated with the implementation of the District’s i3 grant, UTRPP.  Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) was awarded a five-year, $3 million i3 grant funded by the United States Department of Education (USDOE).

This first amendment will include USDOE grant funds totaling $23,357.  In addition, $8,000 in funds from the Florida Education Foundation, Inc., will be added to the currently approved MOA with USF for year three of the project.  A total of $3,835.50 will also be carried forward from USF’s previously unmet match commitments from years one and two.  All other provisions of the original MOA remain in effect.  The additional funds will bolster USF’s ability to support the UTRPP schools with appropriate resources.

Funds in the amount of $31,357 will be funded through the following sources (remaining balances as of September 20, 2017):
  • i3 Grant: $23,357 - Project 3237, remaining balance equaled $462,485
  • Florida Education Foundation, Inc.: $8,000 - Project 2946, remaining balance equaled $16,000
EVALUATION
Since 2013, five classes of UTRPP residents have graduated; of those, 97.5 percent are currently teaching and 70 percent are currently working in HCPS.  Of those working in HCPS, 48 percent are employed in one of the six UTRPP schools.
