Accept Evaluation Results and Continue the School Board Attorney's Contract for an Additional Year (Business Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Board voted unanimously on October 15, 2013, to appoint James J. Porter as School Board Attorney, partner in the firm of Adams and Reese, LLP.  On October 22, 2013, the Board approved the contract for Mr. Porter and set up an annual evaluation of performance.  The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide the School Board Attorney the opportunity to discuss the goals and objectives of the past year's performance, and to develop objectives for the next evaluation. We are requesting approval for a renewal of his contract for an additional year of service.

Funds in the amount of $20,000 will be available in the districtwide site budget for Policy Assistance (General Fund).  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 9999.  As of September 18, 2017, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $20,000.  Funds in the amount of $137,500 will be available in the districtwide site budget for School Board Attorney (General Fund).  For tracking purposes, the project number is 9999.  As of September 18, 2017, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $137,500. Funds in the amount of $327,118.93 will be available in the districtwide site budget - Miscellaneous School Board Attorney - Litigation (General Fund).  For tracking purposes, this project number specific to this agenda item is 4492.  As of September 18, 2017, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $848,248.
