SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Narcotics Overdose Prevention Education of Hillsborough, Inc. (NOPE) (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Upon approval, this agreement will continue the partnership between The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida and NOPE.  NOPE is a local non-profit agency that provides high-impact prevention and educational presentations, as well as discussion forums for parents and students in our secondary schools.  Through the Project Prevent grant initiative, Hillsborough County Public Schools is expanding its partnership with NOPE to include additional parent presentations and leadership opportunities for students in order to cultivate a culture of awareness and prevention in the project schools surrounding the dangers and consequences of prescription drug abuse.  NOPE has successfully replicated program activities and continues to expand these activities in non-project schools to ensure sustainability of the program after grant funding ends.

Funds in the amount of $10,990 will be available in the Project Prevent Grant Special Revenue Budget.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3310.  As of September 25, 2017, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $154,993. The funding for this expenditure represents approximately 1.4 percent of the $750,000 budget allocation for year three of this five-year initiative.
EVALUATION
Program services are evaluated by the provider and the third-party evaluator being funded through Project Prevent.  In addition, the NOPE organization distributes and evaluates results of impact surveys to ascertain efficacy of the program.
