SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Prismatic Services, Inc., for the Evaluation of the Project Prevent Grant Project (Office of Strategy Management)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Project Prevent grant project is a federally awarded grant for assisting high-poverty schools in communities with pervasive violence to break the cycle of violence by having the support and tools for better meeting the needs of affected students.  This agenda item approves evaluator services for the annual grant program evaluation for activities implemented during the 2017/2018 school year, the fourth continuation year of the project, in compliance with funding agency requirements.  Grant evaluation services include the following:  evaluation design assistance, data analysis, and a comprehensive Annual Performance Evaluation Report.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $37,500 will be available in the Project Prevent Evaluation Grant, Special Revenue Fund.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3310.  As of October 25, 2017, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $37,500.
EVALUATION
The Office of Strategy Management has direct supervision of the selected external evaluator, oversees the evaluation activities, tracks progress, and ensures reporting compliance as well as transmission of all required reports to the funding agency.  An external evaluation is required for this grant.  Funds are allocated in the budget specifically to contract with an external evaluator to assess program activities and impacts.
