Recognition of the Winners for the Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library Our Hispanic Heritage Art Contest (Office of Teaching and Learning) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
National Hispanic Heritage Month was recognized September 15, 2017, through October 15, 2017. As part of the celebration, the Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library sponsored a local art contest offering students an opportunity to pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have made positive contributions to our community, country, and world. Our district Library Media Services and Art Departments partnered to engage students in this contest resulting in a record number of 1,687 student entries. Students in grades K-5 created bookmarks and students in grades 6-12 created posters illustrating the contest theme, "Our Hispanic Heritage." We are honored to recognize our first and second place award recipients. Bookmark Awards (Grades K-2) 1st Place- Winter Mejia, Grade 2, Claywell Elementary School 2nd Place – Irelynn Griffin, Grade 2, Claywell Elementary School Bookmark Awards (Grades 3-5) 1st Place – Madelyn Knapp, Grade 3, Bevis Elementary School 2nd Place – Aidan Rivera, Grade 4, Crestwood Elementary School Poster Awards (Grades 6-8) 1st Place – Hannah Hansted, Grade 8, Coleman Middle School 2nd Place – Tessa Kowalski, Grade 8, Coleman Middle School Poster Awards (Grades 9-12) 1st Place – Taylor Gierhahn, Grade 11, Freedom High School 2nd Place – Chloe Chatfield, Grade 12, Blake High School |
