SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS | |
Approve the Agreement for Technical Services (ATS) with Council for Educational Change (CEC) to Coordinate the Technical Health Care Career Program (Workforce Connections) |
|
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
In the 2016/2017 school year, the District administered Future Plans, the online College and Career Readiness tool, to 10th grade students. The data from that program indicated there was a high student interest for more information and education about careers in Health Science and related fields. This ATS with CEC will establish the Technical Health Care Career Program to further emphasize technical health care industry awareness for teachers and students as well as provide leadership support to school principals. Working in conjunction with District staff and health care industry personnel, CEC will provide coordination services, networking opportunities, materials, and technical support to offer four sessions for teams of students, teachers, and administrators from 12 high schools. Using the Career Leadership Forum model, these sessions will build a bridge between the business and education communities, with a goal of creating a communication platform that will lead to long term partnerships that align technical health care industry job skills with student interest and education. |
