SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Construction Documents and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the Conversion of Van Buren Middle and Cahoon Elementary into a K-8 School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A previously approved District Facilities Five Year Work Program provides for remodeling of Van Buren Middle and Cahoon Elementary to convert excess middle school capacity to elementary student stations to accommodate the termination of the MOSI Partnership lease and reduce crowding at other elementary schools in the north Hillsborough County area.
 
On March 7, 2017, the Board appointed Long & Associates Architects Engineers, Inc. and Williams Company Tampa to provide design and construction management services.  The project scope includes reconfiguration of some classrooms and renovations to the cafeteria heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system as well as some exterior improvements are also planned to unify the campus.

Approval of the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) will establish the cost for the project.

Project completion is scheduled for July 25, 2018.

• Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health • Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $4,341,274.00 will be available in the Local Millage fund. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 8615. As of Tuesday, January 16, 2018, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $3,671,508.55.  

The Guaranteed Maximum  Price recommended for approval is $3,668,851.
