Recognition of Original Art Work Gifted to School District in Commemoration of the 2018 Black History Month (Outreach and School Improvement)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
World renowned international artist, Mr. Greg Crumbly, gifted the school district with an authentic painting titled “On Their Shoulders”.  The portrait represents many prominent African-American activists who fought for the justice and equality of their communities and beyond.  The painting was unveiled on Student Day at the 2018 Florida State Fair, Tribute to Black History exhibit area located in the Florida Center on February 9, 2018.

Mr. Crumbly has made the Tampa Bay area his home after an exciting career which began after his graduation from Governor's School for the Arts at Bucknell University where he was No. 1 in his class. His degree in psychology and art history prepared him well for his service and combat travels in the Army as well as his work as a forensic detective drawing crime scenes with the Pittsburg Police Department. A special case brought Crumbly to Tampa in 1999 where he decided to retire and live.

The painting will proudly be displayed at the District’s Sam Horton Instructional Service Center.
