EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Verizon Foundation recognizes educators and administrators in Florida who make significant contributions to the field of education through the Governor’s Shine Award. The Governor’s Shine Award honors the important role inspirational teachers play in developing the potential of their students and whose inspirational approach to teaching stimulates student learning. These teachers widen students’ horizons and encourages them to explore a touchstone to paths of achieving more. This year, the Governor’s Shine Award recipients were 11 K-12 STEM teachers from Florida, including one winner from Hillsborough County Public Schools. Tiffany Oliver, International Baccalaureate Biology teacher from Robinson High School, was honored during a Governor’s cabinet meeting at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Tiffany Oliver is a 15-year teaching veteran at Robinson High School, where she teaches International Baccalaureate Biology. Tiffany was recognized as the 2015 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Lignell Award Outstanding STEM Teacher of the Year; 2015/2016 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Central Florida Science Teacher of the Year; 2017 Florida Association of Science Teachers Outstanding High School Teacher of the Year; and is a 2018 Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching Florida state finalist. |
