Recognition of Project Lead The Way 2017/2018 Distinguished Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Schools Designation (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Project Lead The Way Distinguished STEM School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their Project Lead The Way programs. To be eligible for the designation, the schools had to meet the following criteria for the 2016/2017 school year:
  • offer at least three Project Lead The Way courses;
  • have 25 percent of students or more participate in Project Lead The Way courses, or of those who participated, at least 33 percent took 2 or more courses;
  • have 70 percent of students or more earn a proficient or higher on Project Lead The Way end-of-course assessments, or 10 percent of students earn the Advanced Placement and Project Lead The Way Student Achievement.
Ten schools in Florida were selected, including two from Hillsborough County Public Schools:
  • Young Middle Magnet School
  • Middleton High School
Through Project Lead The Way programs, students develop STEM knowledge as well as in-demand, transportable skills that they will use both in school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take.
