The Gaither High School faculty, staff, parents, and community have requested that the media center at Gaither High School be named the Pat Chevalier Media Center.

The Pat Chevalier Media Center will celebrate and honor Mrs. Chevalier’s 32 years of service to the students of Hillsborough County Public Schools and her service as Gaither High School’s Media Specialist for 29 years. Mrs. Chevalier served on many committees and coordinated school-wide projects which increased students’ reading levels and encouraged their love of reading and poetry. Implementing new technology, Mrs. Chevalier developed the Gaither student ID program, and was involved with implementing a countywide pilot project which was the beginning of online computer research. Mrs. Chevalier directed the complete renovation of the Gaither Media Center during Gaither High School’s 2011 whole school renovation. Honored by her peers, she was named as a Gaither High School Teacher of the Month and the 2016/2017 Hillsborough Association of School Library Media Specialists (HASLMS) Media Specialist of the Year. Mrs. Chevalier was professional, friendly, a beloved Gaither faculty member, and exemplified what it means to be a Gaither Cowboy.

Naming the media center at Gaither High School in Mrs. Chevalier's honor would be a deserving tribute to recognize her many contributions and dedicated service to the school.

EVALUATION
Policy 7250 - Commemoration of School Facilities School sites and facilities shall be named for individuals who have rendered outstanding public service to public education, for geographical locations, and for groups and clubs as indicated: A. Other facilities, such as libraries, playgrounds and stadiums - for educators, outstanding citizens or for groups or clubs which assisted most in the establishment of the facility
