Recognition of the National Medalists for the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Since 1923, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation's youth and provided opportunities for creative teens in grades 7 through 12.  Prior winners include notable American writers and artists such as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Stephen King, and Robert Redford. In our fourth year of being a regional affiliate, we received art and writing entries, those works received regional awards during our March 27, 2018, reception at The University of Tampa.  The middle and high school students who were awarded Gold Key honors automatically advanced for national adjudication. The national Gold, American Visions, American Voices, Silver with Distinction Portfolio, and Best in Grade Medalists will be celebrated on June 7, 2018, with a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.  We are grateful to Suncoast Credit Union for being the presenting sponsor, and The University of Tampa and Hillsborough Education Foundation for their support.
