Approve the Agreements for Educational Services with Building Trade Apprenticeship/Pre-Apprenticeship Committees, Erwin Technical College, 2018/2019 (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
We request approval of the Agreements for Educational Services to continue to provide training for 17 building trade apprenticeship committees and three pre-apprenticeship committees. For more than 26 years, the district has had active educational agreements with the building trades apprenticeship committees for adult job training programs. The apprenticeship committees are compensated $0.95 per instructional hour for each registered apprentice. The contracted funds are used to cover instructor salaries/benefits; program promotion; instructional materials and supplies; equipment upgrade, replacement, and repair; and other supervisory and administrative costs to include, but not limited to, lease expenses for classroom facilities and equipment, travel, mileage, conferences, registrations, and professional meetings. |
|
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funds in the amount of $2,572,444.20 will be available in the Workforce Education budget. The apprenticeship training programs generate Workforce Education funds that cover all district direct and indirect expenses for the programs.
EVALUATION | |
The quality of the programs are evaluated annually for compliance with the Florida Department of Education and the Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship Training. Student achievement is evaluated by the number of Occupational Completion Points (OCPs) earned. During the 2016/2017 school year, 1,677 apprentices attended classes; of those students in attendance, 743 OCPs were earned. During the 2017/2018 school year, as of April 20, 2018, 1,510 apprentices attended classes; of those students, 164 OCPs have been earned. |
