SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Educational Plant Spot Survey 4.8 for Combining Cahoon Elementary and Van Buren Middle Schools into Dr. Carter G. Woodson PK-8 School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Florida Statute 1013.31 requires all school districts to submit an educational plant survey once every five years to the Florida Department of Education (FDOE).  The survey establishes the condition of existing facilities, and makes recommendations for repairs, major renovations, remodeling, and capacity improvements based on actual and anticipated needs.  As exceptions to the original survey recommendations arise, the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida is required to amend the Educational Plant Survey by submitting a "spot survey" to FDOE.

On June 14, 2014, the School Board approved the District's 2015-2019 FDOE Five-Year Educational Plant Survey 4.1.  A spot survey is now required to amend this survey, adding the recommendation to combine Cahoon Elementary and Van Buren Middle Schools into Dr. Carter G. Woodson PK-8 School.  The conversion was approved by the School Board on May 16, 2017, through the attendance boundary change to use excess middle school capacity for elementary student stations required by the termination of the MOSI Partnership School lease and balance enrollments in North and New Tampa..

The cost of implementing the survey recommendations will have no financial impact to the School Board.
