Approve Limited Extension to the Contract for Focus Academy and Legacy Preparatory Academy (Charter Office) Revised attachment
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Charter legislation includes a provision for the renewal of a charter contract for those schools that have successfully completed their contact term.  The school district’s process for the contract renewal consideration includes the submission of a letter of intent to renew the contract, a comprehensive program review, and the development of a new contract.  Due to a dispute between the charter school and the school district, the school district has requested mediation services from the Florida Department of Education, which they are entitled to by state statute.  The requested extension will cover the time required for mediation.
