Update Regarding the 2018/2019 Florida Teachers Classroom Supply Assistance Program (Business Services Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Florida legislature appropriates funds for certified classroom teachers, full-time media specialists, and certified school counselors serving students in prekindergarten through grade 12, to purchase classroom materials and supplies for the public school students assigned to them. Florida Statute 1012.71(6) states, "district school boards may, and are encouraged to, enter into public-private partnerships in order to increase the total amount of Florida Teachers Classroom Supply Assistance Program funds available to classroom teachers." Hillsborough County Public Schools will partner with ClassWallet, currently used at other Florida school districts including Miami-Dade and Polk County schools, to streamline the manual, time-intensive tasks of collecting receipts, reconciling invoices, and making vendor and reimbursement payments. Through this software, teachers can purchase from a variety of school supply vendors, online or via a smartphone app. If the teacher chooses to shop elsewhere, they are able to upload their receipts to receive reimbursement. The ClassWallet platform will provide many advantages including: (1) tax-free purchases within the ClassWallet marketplace; (2) orders delivered directly to a teacher's school; and (3) the ability to purchase discounted supplies and materials from more than 40 school supply vendors. |
