Approve the Purchase of Visible Learning for Literacy Professional Development Resource Center Professional Learning from Corwin (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Visible Learning for Literacy Professional Development Resource Center Professional Learning provides an online repository of tools designed to support the effective implementation of high-impact literacy practices described in the Visible Learning for Literacy K-12 professional book. This professional book was introduced at the June 2018 Principal Institute as the foundation for the district's focus on literacy best practices supporting efforts of closing the achievement gaps and increasing student achievement.  The tools are accessible to all K-12 site administrators and teachers to support standards-aligned, literacy-focused professional learning. Seven online professional development modules with facilitator's guides, PowerPoints, videos, handouts, and lesson starters are provided for sites to customize their professional learning.

In accordance with the Florida Department of Education Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(14), when acquiring information technology, as defined in Section 282.0041(14), F.S., the school district may make any acquisition through direct negotiations and contract with a vendor or supplier, as best fits the needs of the school district.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $96,957 will be available in the K-12 Comprehensive Research-Based Reading Plan budget, Project 4526. As of August 22, 2018, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $8,932,501.
EVALUATION
The student impact from the program usage will be progress monitored through the district's formative and progress monitoring assessments, and by reviewing student outcome data at the end of the 2018/2019 school year. Implementation data will be progress monitored through observation of site-based professional learning offerings and planning sessions, teacher and administrator surveys, and program usage data.
