SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Scholastic, Inc., for Professional Development Workshops with Robles Elementary School and Chamberlain High School (Chief of Schools)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The two participating schools in this project are Robles Elementary and Chamberlain High.  Both schools will receive support designed to assist with the implementation of the five components of the Pathway to Effective Family-School Partnership.  The purpose will be to strengthen family engagement practices to increase student academic achievement.  The professional development consists of three six-hour workshops focused on building the capacity of administrators and teachers to partner with families in ways that support student learning and overall school improvement.  

The training attendance will include administrators, school staff, and family/community members.  This is part of the Florida Department of Education Schools of Hope Whole-School Transformation Model (TOP-3) Grant.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Engage and communicate with families and stakeholders • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $31,992 will be available in the TOP-3 Grant.  For tracking purposes, the project numbers specific to this agenda item are 3357 and 3367.  As of September 10, 2018, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $73,104.
EVALUATION
The funding agency requires the district to contract with an external evaluator to assess the impact of project activities. The evaluator will examine evidence related to the services performed to increase parent and community engagement and measure the related outcomes.
