SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Memorandum of Understanding with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners Head Start to Provide Services to Children with Disabilities in the Head Start Program 2018/2023 (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Since 1995, the School Board has had an agreement with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to provide services to Pre-K students with disabilities in the Head Start Program.  Services provided to Pre-K students with disabilities and their families include:  Child Find/Pre-K screenings, assessments, as well as, direct educational supports and related services.  The School District provides the services at the BOCC Head Start locations and ensures that the Pre-K students are served in the least restrictive setting.

It is the practice of Hillsborough County BOCC to sign negotiated contracts after School Board approval.

There is no financial impact to the district.
EVALUATION
The Special Needs Committee (comprised of Hillsborough County Public Schools and Head Start staff) monitors services quarterly and an annual review will be conducted at the end of each fiscal year for five years beginning June 30, 2019, and ending June 30, 2023. The review includes pre-test and post-test measurement of student progress on the Battelle Developmental Inventory-Two and Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment.
