SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Purchase of i-Ready Licenses in Reading and Mathematics, Ready Instructional Print Materials, and Professional Development from Curriculum Associates, LLC (Sole-Source Provider) for Diagnostics and Instruction (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
i-Ready and Ready are supplemental materials that provide a blended model of print materials and technology to deliver literacy and mathematics assessment and instruction in grades K-8. The online diagnostic and instruction will be provided to all traditional elementary schools to provide a K-5 common measure to monitor student progress over time. All materials in the online and blended models are aligned to the elementary Language Arts and Mathematics Florida Standards. Forty-four schools will receive grades K-5 Ready books, the teacher resource book, and individual access to the Tools for Instruction website which includes the additional lessons that are aligned with the Language Arts Florida Standards and Math Toolbox.

The award of this agreement will be for a 1-year period, with an optional 1-year renewal. There is a 30-day termination for convenience clause included in this agreement. All prices offered are firm against any increase for at least three years from the effective date. This contract will be reviewed and evaluated annually and may be renewed by the Superintendent, per the terms of the specifications.

In accordance with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(12)(d), commodities or contractual services available only from a single source may be exempted from the competitive solicitation requirements. When a district school board believes that commodities or contractual services are available only from a single source as specified by the FLDOE, the district school board may negotiate on the best terms and conditions with the single source vendor.

Funds in the amount of 3,439,636.83 will be funded through the following sources (remaining balance as of October 8, 2018)
  • 101 General, Project 6967 - Teaching & Learning General Assessment Fund: $600,000.00; remaining balance $1,678,090.00
  • 101 General, Project 4628 - Curriculum Enhanced Initiatives through the Supplemental Academic Instruction: $2,839,636.83; remaining balance $4,686,204.00
