SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) Adjusted Fingerprinting Fee Schedule and the Inclusion of the Department of Children and Family Services Background Screening Clearinghouse
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
HCPS conducts fingerprinting services for all district and charter school employees, contractor vendors, volunteers needing a level 2 screening, student interns, and volunteer coaches. We conduct background screenings utilizing software and hardware as approved by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The payments for fingerprinting services are in alignment with the schedule of fees as provided by FDLE. Effective January 1, 2019, there will be an increase in the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) fees. As a result, HCPS has adjusted the district fee schedule to include this increase. Employees of HCPS funded in positions under Federal Child Care and Development (CCDF) must be in compliance with Department of Children and Family Services Clearinghouse background screenings. This is in addition to meeting state requirements under F.S. 1012.32. In addition to Level 2 clearances, the Department of Children and Family Services require additional clearance through child abuse and neglect registries in all states in which the child care provider resided during the preceding five years. HCPS is currently in compliance with background clearance and screenings for these employees utilizing the Clearinghouse. HCPS purchased the necessary software and equipment to add to the suite of fingerprinting services offered for all newly hired employees impacted by these additional requirements. |
