SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Multi-Year Agreements of Understanding with the Community Based Training (CBT) Sites for Students with Disabilities for 2018/2019 and All Subsequent Years (Academic Support and Federal Programs)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval for the Agreements of Understanding with CBT sites, Thonotosassa OPCO LLC d/b/a Stone Ledge Manor, and Weinberg Village Assisted Living Residences, to provide valuable training experiences for qualifying students with disabilities. Upon receipt of training in entry-level positions at a variety of businesses in the community, participating students are better prepared to successfully enter the workforce. Beginning with the 2018/2019 school year, under these Agreements of Understanding, students with disabilities will receive training opportunities.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $38,400 will be available in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act for transporting students to and from the business sites.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3531.
EVALUATION
CBT Business Partnership Evaluations were completed by the participating sites for 2017/2018. The participating businesses rated students on their performance based on the following criteria:
  • Students display appropriate behavior
  • Students display independence
  • Students follow company policies/rules
  • Students display appropriate dress/hygiene
  • Students perform assigned tasks
  • Overall program effectiveness
During the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 school years, the ratings from the above criteria produced the following positive outcomes:
  • 88 percent of the students were rated above average in the six areas previously listed
  • 12 percent of the students were rated satisfactory in the six areas previously listed
Businesses involved will be given quarterly evaluations for completion, with the final evaluations to be concluded by June 30, 2019, and June 30 of each subsequent year.
