Recognition of the Participants in the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP): Project Securing College/Career Opportunities Through Rigor in Education (SCORE) Grant EXCELerated Summer Program (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
GEAR UP: Project Score is a federally funded grant serving all 10th and 11th grade students at East Bay High School and Spoto High School.  The 2018 GEAR UP Summer Program provided opportunities for cohort students to support meeting graduation requirements as well as increasing their life and leadership skills.  This past summer, Hillsborough County Public Schools partnered with Hillsborough Community College to offer summer session Dual Enrollment classes.  Other partners included Computer Mentors and the Department of Career and Technical Education so that students could earn credits in Microsoft Office and Nutrition and Wellness.

Students attended a leadership camp in Washington, D.C. with other students from around the country.  Finally, students took part in a financial literacy workshop called "Life Fast Forward" organized by Suncoast Credit Union.
