EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The School Board annually approves an agreement with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for the placement of School Resource Deputies in our secondary schools. The agreement is administered by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for the 2016/2017 fiscal year, July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2107. The participating law enforcement agencies in the School Resource Officer Program pay 50 percent of the program cost.
The signed agreement was received in the Business Office the week of August 22, 2016, therefore, the request is retroactive to July 1, 2016. |

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes) | |
The expenditure amount of $3,027,337 covers 46 School Resource Deputies and 6 supervisors for the middle and high schools. The school district covers 50 percent of the program cost.
The expense amount, which covers the elementary school resource deputies, is $506,398. This expenditures is available in the school district's Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) allocation; and $455,341 from the 2013 United States Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant; and $83,811 from the 2014 COPS grant. This funding will end at the completion of the grant period. |
