SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Contract Renewal and Consolidation of Channelside Academy of Math and Science and Channelside Academy Middle School (Charter Office)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Charter legislation includes a provision for the renewal of a charter contract for those schools that have successfully completed their contract term. The district’s process for contract renewal consideration includes the submission of a letter of intent to renew the contract, a comprehensive program review, a contract renewal application, and the development of a new contract. Consistent with established procedures, a district review team assessed the schools’ performance relevant to student achievement, finance, governance, administration, curriculum and instruction, and assessment. Advantage Academy of Hillsborough, Inc., is requesting a consolidation of Channelside Academy elementary and middle schools. The consolidated school will be named Channelside Academy of Math and Science. Attached is a school profile and a report of the review team’s findings and recommendations. Staff recommends approval of a 10-year contract for Channelside Academy of Math and Science. The contract renewal application is an original document, including a budget submitted by Channelside Academy of Math and Science, will be Appendix I of the contract, and is available for review in the Charter School Office. |
