SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Disposal of Obsolete Stores Inventory (Business Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In accordance with School Board Policy 7310, the board will approve the disposition of material and equipment that has been determined to be obsolete or is no longer usable.  Disposal will be by sale to the highest bidder, or by proper waste removal.  The Logistics Warehouse and the Transportation Department have identified the attached lists of stock items as obsolete.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Establish a strong foundation of financial stewardship
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
There is no additional cost to the district, however, the stores inventories in the General Ledger will be decreased by $42,555.55.  All proceeds received from the auction of the items will be deposited into the General Fund.
EVALUATION
Each location that carries a stock inventory continuously monitors stock usage reports and adjusts inventory levels as required.  Within Transportation, the bus manufacturers switched to a bigger tire to compensate for the newer, heavier buses.  As a result, the smaller 10R tires have become obsolete as the older buses have been replaced.  The Logistics Warehouse continues to work with the appropriate district staff on forms, and remove stock as these forms become available on-line or go through changes that can make the current version of a form obsolete or no longer necessary.
