SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve  Affiliation Agreement for Early Childhood Education, 2018/2019 (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the following affiliation agreement to provide externship training for Early Childhood Education programs.
  • Easter Seals Florida, Inc.
The Florida Department of Education curriculum frameworks require on-site externship training for Early Childhood Education enrollees. At this time, we have 10 active clinical facilities that provide hands-on externship experiences for secondary and postsecondary students based on affiliation agreements. The length of programs in which students are enrolled range from 6 months to 14 months. These standard agreements are necessary to fulfill our obligation to students for externship experiences. The partnerships we establish with the Early Learning facilities in this community are essential to our Early Childhood Education programs and beneficial to the Early Learning industry. We are pleased that the quality of our graduates provides an incentive to the Early Learning industry to continue our  mutually beneficial relationship.

Easter Seals Florida, Inc. requires The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida to be the first signature on the affiliation agreement.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
Early Learning facilities are provided by various Early Learning agencies with no financial impact to the school district.
EVALUATION
The Early Learning facility will be evaluated by students and instructors after each externship utilizing an externship evaluation tool. The Early Learning facility will be utilized by Brewster Technical College and Tampa Bay Technical High school’s Early Childhood Education programs for the 2018/2019 externships. Easter Seals Florida will be a valuable partner in augmenting the educational process to real world industry experience.
