SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Revised Bell Schedule to Compensate for the Loss of Instructional Time at Extended Reading Time (ERT) Sites as a Result of Hurricanes Hermine and Matthew
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The cancellation of three school days due to Hurricanes Hermine and Matthew resulted in a 177 day school year and the need to document the hourly equivalent of 180 days. To meet this minimum requirement, additional instructional time must be provided to our 38 ERT sites. The attached modified bell schedule lengthens the school day by five minutes for each of the 95 days in the second semester (January 3, 2017 - May 26, 2017). This will result in meeting the minimum 1,080 hourly requirement. |
|
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Continuously improve processes and systems
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)
There will be no additional cost to the District.
