Plant High School Counseling Department's Implementation of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The ASCA National Model is the framework for a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program.  There are standards for school counseling just like there are standards for all academic content areas.  The ASCA National Model outlines the frameworks for those standards.

A comprehensive school counseling curriculum includes four core area of focus:

  1. Career Exploration and Development
  2. Academic Advisement
  3. Personal/Social Development
  4. Parent and Community Involvement

The simple question that drives Plant High School's program is "How are students different because of what we do?" Based on a review of schoolwide data and the results of a student needs survey, the school counselors created goals for the school counseling program.
