Highlight the Collaboration between The Children's Board of Hillsborough County and Hillsborough County Public Schools School Social Work Services (Educational Access, Opportunity, and Alternatives)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Children’s Board of Hillsborough County (CBHC) and Hillsborough County Public Schools School Social Work Services have collaborated on access to the Administrative Services Organization (ASO) since January 2015. This collaboration allows ASO funding to be available to children in prekindergarten through grade eight as well as teen parents. A select group of school social workers serve as ASO liaisons to access funding for families in need. In addition, the school social worker at each school site serves as the case manager and works with families to develop family support plans, refer to school and community resources, and refer to the ASO Liaison when funds are needed for services. The funds are intended to be used as a last resort to fill service gaps and the services purchased must relate to a family support plan goal. CBHC has allocated $140,000 for School Social Work Services to meet the needs of students and help families achieve stability which leads to student success.
