|TO:||School Board Members|
|FROM:||Jeff Eakins, Superintendent|
|SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS|
|Approve District Improvement and Assistance Plan (DIAP), all School Improvement Plans (SIPs), School Advisory Council (SAC) Composition Forms, and SIP Waivers for 2016-2017 (School Improvement).|
|Florida Statutes 100142(18) and 1001.452 require school boards to annually review and approve the District Improvement and Assistance Plan (DIAP), SIPs, waivers, and the composition of SACs.
Each district with a D or F school is required to develop a District Improvement and Assistance Plan (DIAP). All schools develop and approve their SIPs annually using the online Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) SIP template. Through SIPs, schools implement a collaborative and ongoing process for improvement that aligns with the district goals and their student data. The purpose of the SIP is to provide a current description of students' performance along with a system of goals, strategies, action steps, evaluation tools, evaluation processes, and professional development for increasing student achievement. All SIPs have been developed through the FLDOE website, with public access through the website (www.floridacims.org). The Office of School Improvement supports The Chief of Schools and the Area Superintendents in their work with utilizing the SIP to increase student achievement.
