Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Mobius to Provide Movement-Based Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Training and Performances (Office of Teaching and Learning) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Mobius is a professional service company that serves businesses and K-12 school districts. Mobius will continue to provide training to Blake High School students on how to teach movement-based STEM lessons to elementary classrooms, while mentoring students about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) careers. The program consists of 2 separate casts of approximately 15 students.
This partnership with Mobius consists of two different phases. During Phase 1, Mobius prepared the Blake High School students to perform a movement-based STEM production at Blake High School. Phase 1 also taught the students how to teach movement-based science lessons to elementary students. Under the guidance of Mobius, the students will go on a STEAM Roadshow and perform at 6 - 8 elementary schools between March 8, 2017, and June 12, 2017, teaching elementary students about STEM concepts. Blake High School students will also perform at a Tampa Bay STEM Network event for families of Hillsborough County Public Schools. The Mobius movement-based STEM learning approach drives inquiry, exploration, and reflection, while providing students a unique platform to experience STEM. Mobius utilizes appropriate Florida Standards and Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Science to ensure STEM lessons are pedagogically sound and sequentially in line with content standards. |
