Recognition of District Representatives for the Sunshine State Scholars Program for 2016/2017 (Office of Teaching and Learning) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Sunshine State Scholars Program provides the opportunity for districts in Florida to showcase excellent student performance in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The selection criteria includes: overall student grade point average (both weighted and unweighted), SAT and ACT scores, the number of advanced placement STEM courses completed, the number of advanced placement STEM assessments with a score of three or higher, participation in STEM competitions, and participation in extracurricular STEM related activities (e.g., clubs and organizations). District scholars will be recognized for their academic achievements on May 19-20, 2017, at the Doubletree Hotel in Orlando, Florida. They will be able to meet with STEM industry leaders and representatives from Florida's universities and colleges at the event.
