Approve Agreement with The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. (Educational Access, Opportunity, and Alternatives)
The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. (The Spring) provides a variety of services to victims of domestic violence, including a 24-hour emergency shelter for victims and their dependent children who have no other safe place to stay.  The children who reside at The Spring must receive educational services on site for security reasons.  The district provides a teacher and a teacher aide who provide academic instruction for approximately 25 children.
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
The Spring provides the facility at no cost to Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS).  The academic instructional components for the program are funded by Full-Time Equivalency funds which amounted to approximately $128,432 in the 2016/2017 fiscal year.  This item is included in the General Fund budget.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this item is 4679.
A comprehensive evaluation of the educational program will be completed by June 30, 2018.  District staff will review academic achievement data, notes, and walk-through checklists from site visits and exit surveys.
