Approve Contract with Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office, Inc. (DACCO) (Educational Access, Opportunities, and Alternatives)
Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) operates alternative education sites to serve students who have been given a change of placement from their regular schools for having committed Level One offenses or demonstrated continuous disruptive behavior.  DACCO provides supportive services for these sites, which includes the delivery of evidence based practice curricula and counseling for substance abuse prevention.  During the 2017/2018 school year, DACCO will provide counselors at Brandon EPIC3 and North Tampa EPIC3.  Each counselor serves approximately 25-30 students.
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
Funds in the amount of $50,000 will be available in the Educational Access, Opportunity, and Alternatives Division budget for 2017/2018. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 4671.
DACCO provides quarterly reports on the progress of participating students that include, but are not limited to, data such as behavioral changes as a result of counseling, and the number of students who successfully complete the evidence based practices curricula.  These quarterly reports are summarized in the year-end report that will be completed by June 30, 2018.
