SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Naming of the Media Center at Middleton High School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The faculty, staff, parents, alumni, friends, and community members have requested that the media center at Middleton High School be named the Dr. Frankye A. Berry Media Center.

Dr. Frankye A. Berry was a former English Department Chair at Middleton High School.  She taught English, drama, and speech at Middleton High School for 42 years.  From the 1930s to the 1970s, she set a standard of excellence that reached far beyond the walls of Middleton High School into churches, theaters, and auditoriums throughout Hillsborough County.  Her standard of excellence went all the way to the White House to then President Dwight D. Eisenhower, in 1960.  Dr. Berry earned her Ph.D. from the University of Florida.  She died on April 17, 1989.  Dr. Berry's spirit still lives on in the hearts of alumni who knew her, in the community, and in all of the lives she touched.
