Approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Tampa, Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. d/b/a CareerSource of Tampa Bay for the Tampa Fire Rescue Partnership Academy for the 2017/2018 Fiscal Year (Workforce Connections Division) Revised Executive Summary
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the Memorandum of Understanding, through Learey Technical College, for the Tampa Fire Rescue Partnership Academy. The purpose of this partnership is to provide an applicant pool of newly trained firefighters to the local workforce.

The targeted student population for this special program is economically-disadvantaged, minorities, and women. Through this partnership, the City of Tampa will provide the training facility, equipment, and site consumables.  CareerSource of Tampa Bay will provide tuition, fees, textbooks, tools, uniforms, and supplies for the students, as well as assistance with child care and transportation.  Learey Technical College will provide the instructors and coordination of the partnership.  The Mayor of the City of Tampa requires that The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida be the first signature on the Memorandum of Understanding.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of approximately $23,300 will be generated into the divisional Workforce Education budget.  Funds received in excess of actual costs for this program will be remitted to the City of Tampa to offset costs associated with the operation and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
EVALUATION
The evaluation of the Academy program is based on enrollment, completion, and placement of students from this program into the local workforce. A cost and revenue report is calculated for each Academy class.  During the 2016/2017 school year, 77 students enrolled and completed the program.
