Approve Acceptance of Project for Building Envelope Renovations at Walden Lake Elementary School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The exterior building envelope at Walden Lake Elementary School required renovation to restore an acceptable, water-tight condition.  The District previously renovated the stucco surface and sealants on the elevation facing Turkey Creek Road.

Staff selected C. B. Goldsmith and Associates, Inc. and Vogel Bros. Building Co. from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design and construction management services for a project to extend the renovation to the remainder of the original building exterior.  The project scope included removal of damaged and delaminated stucco and stucco skim coats and replacement with new stucco and waterproof coatings; surface preparation and painting of previously painted steel surfaces including doors, handrails and canopies; removal and replacement of exterior sealants; new traffic-coating for all 2nd floor walkways; removal, repair and reinstallation of steel handrails; new metal copings and flashings; and new exterior signage and LED walkway lighting fixtures.  New sealant and painting of the more recent classroom addition was also included.

The design professional has certified that the work is complete in accordance with the plans and specifications and other contract documents and recommends Board acceptance.

Funds in the amount of $1,409,573.20 will be available in the Local Millage fund. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 8591. As of Tuesday, June 27, 2017, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $47,868.03.
