Report and Highlight the 2016-2017 Department of Education Five Star Schools (Outreach and School Improvement)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County Public Schools recognizes the Department of Education's Five Star Schools for 2016-2017.  These schools have met 100 percent of the award criteria, one of which includes earning a grade of “C” or above or a school improvement rating of “maintaining or commendable” for the 2016-2017 school year.

  • School Advisory Councils               
Of the 95 2016-2017 Five Star Schools, 16 have been Five Star Schools for 20 or more years (highlighted on list).

Hillsborough County Public Schools also acknowledges the six (*6) district “Rising Star” schools for 2016-2017. These schools met the criteria at district level.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Engage and communicate with families and stakeholders • Continuously improve processes and systems • Establish a strong foundation of financial stewardship • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health

Volunteers and business community partners impact our district at a value of $24.14 per hour, which for the 2016-2017 school year translated to $28,785,807.00.

          Value (per Point of Light Foundation) - $28,785.807
          Total Five Star Schools Submitted - 101 (*6 rising stars)
EVALUATION
Five Star portfolios are submitted annually and reviewed for demonstrated evidence of 100 percent of award criteria.  Training and support is provided throughout the school year.
