American Cancer Society 2017 Relay for Life Events and 2018 Spring Kickoff (Outreach and School Improvement)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This program is fully aligned with the Building Strong School Culture model supported by the district. Students, staff, and district volunteers are at the heart of American Cancer Society’s support. They honor a survivor or a loved one lost to cancer, they help patients by driving them to and from treatments, they advocate for life-saving change, and they're committed to helping us achieve our mission through fundraising and awareness activities.

During the 2016-17 school year, Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) have exceeded expectations and benefitted in the following ways:
  • 19 Relay for Life events took place at various schools
  • 1,340 teams participated with 6,100 registered participants
  • 10,320 attendees took part in the countywide events
  • 114 HCPS participated in some capacity in Relay for Life 2016: 98% of all Area 6 schools participated, Area 5 had 90% of their schools participated, and Area 8 had 75% of their schools participate
  • $1.3 million dollars raised locally, exceeding the $600,000 2017
