Approve the Purchase of Classroom Libraries and Intervention Readers from Teacher Created Materials (Office of Teaching and Learning) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Teacher Created Materials has created custom, bundled classroom and guided reading libraries for grades K-5 with included lesson plans and professional development. These classroom libraries have been created especially for our schools and with the input of our Elementary subject area leaders. These libraries will allow our students to have access to grade appropriate, standards-aligned reading materials that include a variety of genres as well as a sensitivity to diversity. These resources are written by teachers and are tested before being used in the classroom. Teacher Created Materials has developed partnerships which include Sally Ride Science and TIME for Kids that allow for the opportunity to ensure that these products are diverse and include students and perspectives from all backgrounds. Teacher Created Materials provides teachers and students with researched-based resources that align to the Florida Standards. Teacher Created Materials will support each classroom with solid implementation plans paired with professional development. Their presenters will provide teachers with vocabulary, comprehension, and culturally responsive strategies that they can immediately implement in their classrooms. In addition to these trainings, Teacher Created Materials works to align curriculum with current curriculum being used in the classroom and helps to create a pacing plan that guides teachers. In accordance with the Florida Department of Education Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(11)(b), the requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for commodities or contractual services from three or more sources is hereby waived as authorized by Section 1010.04(4)(a), F.S., for the purchase of educational services and any type of copyrighted materials including, without limitation, educational tests, textbooks, and printed instructional materials where such materials are purchased directly from the producer, publisher, or the owner of the copyright. |
