Approve Agreement for Technical Services (ATS) with Challenge Day for the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP): Project Securing College/Career Opportunities Through Rigor in Education (SCORE) Grant (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of GEAR UP: Project SCORE is to increase early college awareness among targeted students from the GEAR UP sites (Eisenhower Middle School, Giunta Middle School, East Bay High School, and Spoto High School) in Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) by expanding services and enhancing resources that could include:  building a stronger school culture; providing mentoring and support services that link students with local postsecondary institutions; and providing a system of support that will assist in navigating students and parents through postsecondary college and career options.

This agreement with Challenge Day will include six Challenge Days during the 2016/2017 school year.  A total of 600 students and 150 school staff members will participate.  The Challenge Day Program addresses school culture and connectedness.

Funds in the amount of $25,200.00 will be available in the GEAR UP: Project SCORE Grant. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 2981. As of Tuesday, August 16, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $42,528.96. The remaining balance less encumbrances for the GEAR UP: Project SCORE Grant is $323,714.58.
EVALUATION
HCPS will collect and provide assessment data to an outside evaluator for the grant.  The outside evaluator will provide a copy of the annual report and final evaluation report to the HCPS Office of Assessment and Accountability.
