Recognition of the Winners for the Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library Our Hispanic Heritage Art Contests (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

National Hispanic Heritage Month was held September 15, 2016, through October 15, 2016.  The Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library sponsors a countywide art contest that allows students to pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.  Using the theme "Our Hispanic Heritage," students in grades K-5 entered the bookmark contest, middle and high school students entered the poster contest.

  • Bookmark Awards - Grades K-2: 1st Place - Brandon Bui, Grade 2, Crestwood Elementary School; 2nd Place - Nivedit Shenoy, Grade 2, Twin Lakes Elementary School
  • Bookmark Awards - Grades 3-5: 1st Place - Katherine Verrando, Grade 4, Apollo Beach Elementary School; 2nd Place - Simla Tanriverdi, Grade 5, Crestwood Elementary School
  • Poster Awards - Grades 6-8: 1st Place - Evan Gatscher, Grade 8, Orange Grove Middle School; 2nd Place - Sarah Little, Grade 8, Martinez Middle School
  • Poster Awards - Grades 9-12: 1st Place - Andy Villegas, Grade 11, Blake High School; 2nd Place - Erin Exum, Grade 12, Blake High School
