Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Solution Tree, Inc. (Leadership Development) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Florida Department of Education awarded the district with an Instructional Leadership and Faculty Development Grant. These dollars are being used to develop principals through small group principals' meetings, principals' Professional Learning Communities, and specialized area trainings all based on principals’ competency-based goals. The contract with Solution Tree Inc. will allow Area 8 and Area 6 principals the opportunity to further their learning in how to support Professional Learning Communities as a system of support to improve practice.
The training will include three full-day sessions on effective Professional Learning Communities and Leading Learning Teams, including a session with teacher leaders to help facilitate building capacity and teacher leaders at each site. |

Funds in the amount of $20,000.00 will be available in the Leap Up 2.0 grant. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3130. As of Tuesday, December 13, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $297,340.33. | |
EVALUATION | |
Sixty-six administrators and teacher leaders attended this session last year. An assessment of the training showed that 94 percent of participants rated the value as excellent. Participants stated that the training improved the ability of learning teams to tackle difficult situations, run effective Professional Learning Communities, and foster positive leadership among teachers. The 2017 implementation will be evaluated through in-field observations by members of Area Leadership Teams. Ongoing feedback will be provided to principals and teacher leaders. | |
