First Amendment to the Real Property Land Exchange Agreement between the School Board of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On December 6, 2016, the School Board approved an Exchange Agreement with the BOCC that would, in part, transfer a parcel of land on 22nd Street, near Muller Elementary School, from Hillsborough County to the School Board.  The purpose of this exchange was to allow Junior Achievement (JA), which is currently located on School Board property in this area, to expand to adjacent property that would then belong to the School Board.

As the planning for the JA expansion project moves forward, some provisions of the existing agreement that required JA to demonstrate specific financial commitments to the project proved to be costly and would create delays in the construction schedule.  This amendment would eliminate those provisions from the Exchange Agreement.  Hillsborough County and School District staffs are in agreement to eliminate these specific requirements and use other mechanisms to ensure the financial feasibility of the project.   This Amendment does not change any other provisions of the Exchange Agreement.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health • Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
This Amendment will have no financial impact.
