Approve Renewal Cooperative Program Agreement with Hillsborough County Department of Children’s Services, 2005-2006 (Exceptional Student Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A renewal cooperative program agreement has been developed with Hillsborough County Department of Children’s Services and the District’s Department of Exceptional Student Education. The agreement provides services in a therapeutic treatment program for Emotionally Handicapped (EH) and Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) students attending the Department of Children’s Services Residential Treatment Program, Emergency Shelter Program, and the Day School Classes at Dorothy Thomas Exceptional Center for the period August 24, 2005, through July 30, 2006.

Hillsborough County and the School District have been working collaboratively for over 20 years. Approximately 105 EH/SED students are served at this site annually.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT Reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
Goal 2 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT Mathematics will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
Goal 3 - Student performance on FCAT Science will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The Hillsborough County Department of Children's Services provides the facility at no cost to the district. FTE funds of approximately $1,575,000 are generated which covers the program costs and are included in the Part I budget for 2005-2006.
