Approve Amendment #1 to the Inter-Local Agreement Between the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and the School District of Hillsborough County (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)

The School District of Hillsborough County Head Start Program has a growing population of Hispanic/Latino children and families. In an effort to better serve and understand the needs of these families, these funds will be used to send two staff members to a training at the Hispanic Institute. This training will help ensure that the program will continue to reach out to eligible Latino families in our community. These additional funds will also be used for the Fatherhood Involvement Project to help improve and increase the unique and vital role men play in the lives of their families. These funds will be used for consultant fees, educational materials, participant incentives, educational field trips, and supplies. The term of this agreement is October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005.

Goal 5 - The district will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

The total funding of $9,822.50 is provided through federal dollars that come through the Head Start Grantee, Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners and contracts to the School District of Hillsborough County Head Start Program. The additional funds will be used for the Hispanic Institute Conference and Fatherhood Involvement Projects. This item is included in the District Special Revenue/Federal Programs Budget and does not impact Part 1 of the budget.
