EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The District received $661,885 for the Innovative Reading Pilot. The School Board approved an Agreement for Technical Services with istation on January 17, 2006, to provide professional development, technical services, site support, and follow-up.

An accompanying Agreement for Technical Services has been developed with Imagination Station, Inc., d/b/a istation, to provide 3,700 student internet accounts at $95 per student for a total of $351,500 for The Imagination Station Reading Program included as part of the Innovative Reading Pilot Grant awarded to the district by the Florida Department of Education. The Imagination Station Reading Program is an internet-delivered supplemental reading program that will impact 3,700 students at 59 elementary schools in kindergarten through third grade that are achieving less than adequate yearly progress (AYP) or performing below benchmark in reading. The supplemental reading program consists of two components: 1) the interactive curriculum and progress monitoring system, and 2) curriculum linked to data reports that are available from the web site, and may be used for additional teacher-directed classroom instruction.

The pilot schools are listed and were chosen due to their readiness to implement the program and ability to target the appropriate students.
